Research Interests: Dr. Santi is the director of the Cochlear Anatomy Laboratory in the Lions Research Building. The primary goal of this laboratory is to minimize or prevent hearing loss by improving our understanding of the structure and function of the mammalian inner ear. They are specifically interested in characterizing cochlear and vestibular glycoconjugates in the normal inner ear and how these macromolecules may be involved in hearing loss in acoustic overstimulation, ototoxic drug administration, Alport's syndrome, and Meniere's disease.
