Clinical Interests: Dr. Maisel has an interest and expertise in head and neck cancer as well as a long experience in looking after patients with sleep disorders including obstructive sleep apnea and socially disruptive snoring. Dr. Maisel is particularly interested in voice preservation and larynx cancer. Dr. Maisel is the Board of Directors liaison for to the American Academy of Otolaryngology Sleep Disorders Committee. He is a member of the American Society of Sleep Disorders and is the department chairman at the Hennepin County Medical Center's otolaryngology department where he is on the Board of Directors of the Clinical Practice Plan and a member of the Finance Committee. Dr. Maisel is also coordinator for the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Foundation's instruction course program for the annual meeting. The 2001 meeting will be in Denver, Colorado September 9-12 and the 2002 meeting will be in San Diego, California September 22-25.

Research Interests: Dr. Maisel's patient based research has included presentations and publications on primary tracheoesophageal puncture in conjunction with laryngectomy, larynx sparing surgery for carcinoma and other tumors of the larynx as well as several publications on obstructive sleep apnea and its management.
